Good luck with that

Communication is tough for conservatives. Page 19 is the best we can hope for -- the conservative narrative will never appear above the fold. The conservative has to personally deliver his own message in order to get above the fold and to have the content pure from mischievous distortions.

Swimming against the media means a conservative has to make any given point in approximately three sentences. If it takes more than that the message will not stick -- even if its not cut off, as in the Gibson/Palin interview.

Plus, these days no one can afford to come across as a "hater" as people rightly stop listening immediately -- for both conservatives and liberals.

Finally, the victim paradigm drives what I call "burst communications" -- the short attention span high-speed style of modern news. Perceptions are driven by the common TV & movie drama methods, which mean the average "story" breaks down into a hero, a villain, and a victim. Once the viewer identifies with a victim, the villain is the guy on the other side. If you let the other narrative define the victim... then you have already lost.

To succeed, a conservative has to deliver his own story, say it all in three sentences, avoid appearing to be a hater, and position the virtual victim to fit the conservative narrative.

Good luck with that.
